Last year on the 30th May 2018 the team at Amy Cope Photography embarked on a journey full of fun, naked baby bums and yummy Mums!  The result is the much-awaited book aptly named:
‘A Mother and her Baby: A Celebration of New Zealand’s Future Leaders’

As many of you know this project started with a request for Mums and their babies to join us for a photography session with award winning Photographer Amy Cope for just $51.  All this money went to the KidsCanNZ Charity. KidsCan helps NZ families by donating food, clothing and much more to support families in hardship.  A total of $4,073 has been donated so far!

Since the first post went up on Facebook, applications came in from families asking to donate, and be part of the book.  So, we got to work… One year, 76 families, loads of laughs, far too many sing-alongs to ‘baby shark’ later we are very proud of the result.

We loved meeting everyone.  We had the opportunity to photograph older babies, twins, and newborns with their beautiful Mums.  Yes, some of those naked photos of babies ended up with surprised wet parents, and sometimes even a code brown!

The older babies enjoyed the antics behind the camera including puppets, songs, dancing and silly faces – whatever worked to get a smile.   Some parents even wanted to take us home to help with entertaining around the clock!

Oh yes, and of course we can’t forget to mention that this book features an award-winning shot also.  This stunning photograph was awarded Bronze in the recent 2019 Iris Awards!

The book is ready for pre-sale NOW!  Don’t miss out, they are $55 each on pre-sale, including freight. After the 31st of August books will be ordered on a one-off basis and will be $80 each. Pre-sale orders must be paid for in full before the 31st of August and will be couriered to you before the end of September.

THREE TIMES THE LOVE – Mother and Baby Book

My Mother and Baby Book that I began midway through the year to raise money for KidsCan is still continuing nicely.  I have had such a fantastic response that I’ve decided to continue it through to next year. If you haven’t had a chance to be part of it yet don’t miss out.  You can find out more info by typing “more info” on my Facebook advert. The advert is pinned to the top of my facebook page if you’d prefer to find it that way. You will then receive a Facebook message with more details.

Being an Auckland baby photography I have photographed hundreds of newborns, but I especially love when I get to photograph three or more babies from the same family. I have had the pleasure of photographing all three of these boys, over the past 5 years (yes each photo above is a different baby, same mum). Their mum has been kind enough to write me a beautiful review:

“Becoming a parent is one the greatest things in the world, holding your newborn child for the first time is a feeling you never forget. Amy has recreated these feelings through her photographs that she has taken of all three of my children. She has created beautiful memories that I will cherish forever.

When I first went to see Amy with my first child, she immediately made us feel welcomed and put us at ease as soon as we walked in the door. We felt right at home as we settled in while she was busy photographing my little one. Her professionalism and ability to settle and keep our baby asleep was amazing. I definitely learnt a few techniques from Amy and have used them for my other two babies.

The way Amy handles the babies is amazing, the way she gently wraps them, places them down and moves them into position is an experience in itself. But the best part is seeing the final photographs, they were absolutely beautiful. Every time I look at them now, it brings a smile to my face. That is why I have come back to Amy, to photograph my other two babies.

I have and will continue to recommend Amy to anyone who wants to capture beautiful lasting memories of their child. Amy, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping us creating lasting memories of my three gorgeous babies. You are truly amazing at what you do.”

Twins – Newborn Photography

Mila and Andrew came to visit me at around 2 weeks of age.  Mila was so happy awake and was content for me to pose her even when not asleep, and she slept as well.  Andrew was out like a light for most of the session.  I absolutely adore photographing the twins, double the joy.  They are just so precious.

My Beautiful Studio

It is with great pride that I am sharing photos of my beautiful new studio with you.  I have been doing newborn photography since 2010, wedding photography since 2004 and I have never had my own studio.  I photographed newborns in my lounge for 6 years before we embarked on a MASSIVE renovation that included a studio for me.  It has been a trying time working through a renovation and I was so thankful to a lovely friend of mine who allowed me to rent her basement until my studio was ready.  I was there for 6 months and so grateful as I was so busy over that time and would have hated to turn away clients.  I’ve been in my studio for 6 months and it’s only just complete now with the toilet being installed recently and kitchenette being plumbed in.  So my desire for a self contained studio where my clients can get themselves a drink, freshen up etc has finally come to fruition.
I am absolutely loving my little space, it’s a dream come true.  I would love to photograph your little one whether newborn, baby or toddler in my studio.  If you would like to know more please contact me.

Below are some before shots, please do scroll down to see the final results.
This was our laundry and we took over a section of the garage as well.

This photo below is a similar view to the first one above.
I love my cozy little nook for for parents to sit in.  In the original plans that area was going to be a toilet, but we managed to fit the toilet under the stairs (it actually works perfectly) and I got some extra space for clients.Newborn Photography Studio Auckland

This is my working space where the magic happens:

I love seeing my artwork on the walls.  The projector that you can see there is for showing clients their beautiful images.  So many clients have commented on how lovely it is and how it’s like a watching a movie of their baby.Newborn Photography Studio

It was really important to me to include a kitchenette in the studio as I have never easily been able to offer clients refreshments during their session because I was working out my lounge (and our kitchen before the renovation was an old 50’s kitchen).  Clients can now help themselves to refreshments at their leisure.Amy Cope Photography Auckland Studio

Wide awake newborn, Joshua

Newborns often have quite awake times during a newborn session and it’s always so lovely to capture those awake moments for parents.  Usually however they have to be wrapped as they tend to startle themselves easily and move their limbs everywhere.  I was quite surprised by how settled Joshua was when he was awake and how he stayed so still.  Joshua’s big brother came to the session also and was so well behaved for photos.
