Last year on the 30th May 2018 the team at Amy Cope Photography embarked on a journey full of fun, naked baby bums and yummy Mums! The result is the much-awaited book aptly named:
‘A Mother and her Baby: A Celebration of New Zealand’s Future Leaders’
As many of you know this project started with a request for Mums and their babies to join us for a photography session with award winning Photographer Amy Cope for just $51. All this money went to the KidsCanNZ Charity. KidsCan helps NZ families by donating food, clothing and much more to support families in hardship. A total of $4,073 has been donated so far!
Since the first post went up on Facebook, applications came in from families asking to donate, and be part of the book. So, we got to work… One year, 76 families, loads of laughs, far too many sing-alongs to ‘baby shark’ later we are very proud of the result.
We loved meeting everyone. We had the opportunity to photograph older babies, twins, and newborns with their beautiful Mums. Yes, some of those naked photos of babies ended up with surprised wet parents, and sometimes even a code brown!
The older babies enjoyed the antics behind the camera including puppets, songs, dancing and silly faces – whatever worked to get a smile. Some parents even wanted to take us home to help with entertaining around the clock!
Oh yes, and of course we can’t forget to mention that this book features an award-winning shot also. This stunning photograph was awarded Bronze in the recent 2019 Iris Awards!
